frogs breath golf course

There are private golf courses in this world and then you might find Frog’s Breath Golf Course in a remote corner of Northern Ontario. It’s one of those courses that few people ever hear about and fewer still will have an opportunity to play because it’s extremely private. It may also be one of the most challenging nine-hole courses to play in the country.

When you talk about a golf course being in someone’s backyard it’s usually part of a larger golf community. In this case, we quite literally built a nine-holer in a 60-acre wooded area behind our client’s home. He had a rough four-hole course in play before asking our design team to rework the site into a par-33, 3,000-yard routing that is highlighted by rock outcroppings, in excess of 100-feet of elevation change, along with two dramatic waterfalls. One of the biggest challenges we faced on this project was incorporating an eight million gallon reservoir into the design to minimize the requirements for water taking from the adjacent Twin Lakes.
