Looking back, Greystone Golf Club turned out to be one of the most enjoyable design projects that we have been involved with. A group of developers who fell in love with King Valley called the office one morning and said they wanted to do something similar in Milton. They were passionate about the game and even more passionate about wanting to build a great golf course.

The undulating terrain, magnificent specimen trees, the dramatic elevation changes, the panoramic views of the Niagara Escarpment and surrounding countryside gave us a lot of natural features to build upon. However, we had to deal with numerous and complex environmental issues including landform preservation with a wide variety of agencies as we worked through the process of designing a course at the base of the environmentally sensitive Niagara Escarpment.

Using the long natural flowing lines of the escarpment as our inspiration we developed a subtle routing that nestled gently into the rolling terrain without having to disturb the rock formations of the Niagara Escarpment. In keeping with the mature setting, we went with a classical design featuring medium-sized greens, steep-faced bunkers and several wetland hazards. As members and their guests will tell you, the escarpment creates captivating optical illusions on many of the putting surfaces.
