GOLF COURSE DESIGN PROCESS

Throughout the entire golf course design process the Carrick Design team focuses on delivering client goals and unlocking the full potential that a landscape presents.

Initial Consultation
This first step of the golf course design process is focused on gaining insight into our client’s vision, site characteristics, project potential and marketplace positioning.

Conceptual Design
This second step of the golf course design process allows for the exploration of different options for the layout of the golf course including the surrounding development, where applicable. It is during this phase of the golf course design process that the full potential of a site is revealed.

Master Planning / Land Planning
This third step of the golf course design process is devoted to advancing the conceptual design with detail illustrative of the character of the eventual development.  At this stage, fairways, greens, tees, bunkers and ponds are defined in greater detail.  Roads, residential lots, clubhouse site, hotel sites and / or other ancillary facilities are incorporated into master plans and colour CADD drawings are skillfully rendered for presentations to investors and / or government approval agencies.

Detailed Design / Construction Drawings
Detailed grading plans, clearing, grassing, drainage, detailed green designs and technical specifications are some of the drawings that are created during this fourth step of the golf course design process. Tendering documents are prepared to facilitate the submission of construction estimates.  All drawings are prepared in CADD to ensure accurate quantity estimates and to provide for the easy transferring of digital files to other project consultants.

Construction Supervision
The full character and potential of the golf course design is developed during this last step of the golf course design process.  The Carrick Design team is committed to making regular visits to the site during construction in order to fine-tune the design.  Softening of contours and the enhancement of critical design features are examples of decisions made on site to create a course of lasting beauty and character. Monitoring of construction quality, value engineering, scheduling requirements, preparation of change orders, contract administration and processing of payment certificates are also provided during the construction phase.
