DOUGLAS A. CARRICK B.L.A., Member of the A.S.G.C.A.

Since establishing Carrick Design Inc. in 1985, Douglas Carrick has been involved in the planning and design of over fifty golf course projects, many of which have been presented with design awards and have also been covered by the media.  He has been published in numerous trade publications and invited to speak at a variety of professional conferences.

Doug has been involved in the design of a wide range of golf courses including golf course /residential communities, resort and recreational communities and golf course renovation projects.

Doug’s formative years as a landscape and golf course architect were spent working closely with Mr. C.E. "Robbie" Robinson, one of Canada's leading golf course architects.  During this time, he assisted Mr. Robinson in the design and remodeling of several golf courses across Canada.

Steve Vanderploeg joined Carrick Design Inc. in 1997. During his time with the firm he has contributed to all aspects of the practice from early concept planning through construction, contract administration and supervision.

An avid player since his youth, Steve has combined his love of the game with a deep passion for the landscape in becoming a golf course architect.  His profound understanding of both the game of golf and the environment contribute synergistically towards guiding his approach to design.

In addition to completing his Bachelors of Landscape Architecture, Steve worked as a teaching assistant in advanced computer applications and a lab technician in The Centre for Landscape Research at the University of Toronto.  He also undertook several self-directed studies in the use of advanced computer applications for landscape and golf course architecture, which serve him well in his role at Carrick Design today.

Steve has worked on a wide range of projects including: Legends on the Niagara, Humber Valley River Course, The Carrick on Loch Lomond, Cobble Beach Golf LInks, Predator Ridge - The Ridge Course, Mississaugua Golf and Country Club - Greens Renovation, Weston Golf and Country Club and St. Georges Golf and Country Club.
